tether

Tether meditates on agwuncha's subconscious childhood memories of performance. It documents a new ritual that bridges their memories of playing the American recess game, "tetherball" and witnessing traditional Ojiọnu Igbo masquerade figures gesture at various Nigerian-American celebrations . This multi-layered spiritual performance becomes a meditation on the power dynamics of a self-imposed restraint on a body.  Live screenings are often live accompanied by video jockeying and musical scoring performances by kelechi agwuncha and their musical collaborator, Eva Marie Gonzalez Ruskiewicz .

ANTI-RACIST COLLECTION SHORTS: "Black Women"

On the one hand, black women worked to build Brazil's wealth. On the other hand, women like Zacimba Gaba, Angola's warrior princess, and Marielle Franco, who was murdered in 2018, have played pivotal roles in Brazil's history through political and cultural activism. Who are the women who lead the country's anti-racist struggle?

This Is Not a Pipe

“We live in a world that is being made as it goes. The building’s with their fragile windows; the streets and what’s beneath them; the fences and traffic cones; the turnstiles, chainsaws, books and junkyards; surveillance monitors, grocery carts and prison bars.  The pipe that knows how to sing…”  'This Is Not a Pipe' is a short, experimental film made by Joshua Satyam Milowe and Zakaria Ismail Kronemer in collaboration with a quarter-mile-long chunk of lead pipe, placed along the route of what some intend to be a natural gas transport project.

An Interview with the Earthlings

“An Interview with the Earthlings” is an experimental documentary that works to unpack human behaviors and connections. As the film begins the character “Blu” is introduced, as is her understanding of the nature of the ocean. In lieu of Blu's rare and deep understanding of her, the ocean calls upon Blu in an effort to become more informed on the inner workings of the human experience. After providing the ocean with her own viewpoints on the topic, Blu then goes deeper into the world searching for more answers. She ultimately finds them through conversation with her peers.

CARTOONS

“CARTOONS” is a music video exploring the natural versus the supernatural. More specifically, it represents my new journey: navigating the physical and spiritual world to communicate with my mother. The title “Cartoons” alludes to the role that each person plays in this life before transitioning into the next. Am I a “two dimensional” being too afraid to fulfill my true purpose? Or will I find inspiration from the “fourth dimension” to become “three dimensional” here on Earth by expressing myself artistically? The lyrics reference past connections, chasing happiness, and the desire to “see between” in order to maintain our personal connection. The goal is to visually represent loneliness, solitude, and nostalgia through captivating imagery that leaves plenty of room for the viewer’s interpretation.
